As they reached the ninety-five Chevy Silverado
Meindrea punched the unlock button. Even though her uncle never got to see it,
it was the last thing they ever talked about. That alone made it one of her
most cherished possessions. Meindrea slid in the driver’s side door and
started her up as Madaleo hopped into the back. As soon as Faith got in and closed
the door they were off. Of course so late in the night no one else was out. The
dark road they drove down was surrounded by forest for a good five miles before
hitting the city. As usual the radio was playing a mixed CD. One of Meindrea’s
favorite songs came on and she reached to turn up the volume. Just as fast an
odd silver mist drifted in front of them. Meindrea slammed the breaks in panic.
