As they reached the ninety-five Chevy Silverado
Meindrea punched the unlock button. Even though her uncle never got to see it,
it was the last thing they ever talked about. That alone made it one of her
most cherished possessions. Meindrea slid in the driver’s side door and
started her up as Madaleo hopped into the back. As soon as Faith got in and closed
the door they were off. Of course so late in the night no one else was out. The
dark road they drove down was surrounded by forest for a good five miles before
hitting the city. As usual the radio was playing a mixed CD. One of Meindrea’s
favorite songs came on and she reached to turn up the volume. Just as fast an
odd silver mist drifted in front of them. Meindrea slammed the breaks in panic.

Story paragraph three
“Look, we didn’t follow you okay? How could we? You
took off without even telling us where you went.” growled Faith defensively. “Then
why did you come?” Meindrea got in Faith’s face. Madaleo walked between the two
sensing a fight rising between his wife and brother. “Sweetie, calm down. We
needed to find you so Faith tracked your energy trail. Did you forget we were
supposed to meet with Amaria an hour ago?” “Crap! Sorry…I did forget.” Meindrea
backed down. “It’s okay; you’ve had a lot on your mind. Now can we please go
meet up with my girl? You do have your truck don’t you?” Faith wrapped his arm
around his sister as they all started walking to the deserted road. “Of course,”
Meindrea laughed, “I never go anywhere without my Baby Beasty.”
story paragraph two
Meindrea looked at the dark sky one more time before
standing up to leave. It was getting a little chilly so she decided to pull the
clip from her head and let her long raven hair fall down her back. She still
had her headphones on and couldn’t hear a thing outside The Birthday Massacre,
which was now playing, but could sense eyes staring right at her. If she was
honest with herself there were two sets, two very familiar feeling sets.
Meindrea stared into the woods as she quietly called, “come out boys.” As she
expected Madaleo and Faith walked out as she took off her headphones and tucked
them away. “You always know it’s us.” whined Madaleo. “It isn’t that hard to
recognize my husband and brother’s energies. So let me guess, you guys followed
me here even though I asked you not to?” Meindrea sounded annoyed. “No, I just
knew where to find you be-“ “Because you know everything.” Meindrea finished
for Faith. As she rolled her eyes Faith’s glowed with annoyance.
story paragraph one
It was midnight and stars tattooed the black sky,
just the way she liked it. She loved being able to see the stars everywhere out
in the open field. As she gazed at the stars above she hummed along to the
music playing through her headphones. ‘You’re
gone, gone, gone away, I watched you disappear. All that’s left is a ghost of you. Now we’re torn, torn, torn apart,
there’s nothing we can do. Just let me go we’ll meet again soon. Now wait, wait, wait for me. Please hang
around. I’ll see you when I fall asleep.’
She
ached so bad to grab her cell phone and call her great-uncle but she knew it
would do no good, the only one who would answer was her great-grandma. It was
almost a year and she still wasn’t used to not having her sounding board.
Sometimes she didn’t know what to do when she needed to talk. Yeah, she did
vent to others. Alas, it was never the same.
